Giving Single Christians the tools they need to be like Jesus

Single Life Ministries, Inc. (SLM) is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to the growth and development of single Christians for the betterment and strengthening of the body of Christ. Our mission is simple: to give unmarried Christians the tools they need to be like Jesus. To provide support, create community, and nourish singleness in all its forms. And our vision? Equal and equitable treatment for single Christians everywhere.

We believe that better people make better community members. By creating a space that is geared toward the support and nurturing of singles, we believe that we will be making a positive impact on The Church and ultimately the world at large.

At SLM, we see Jesus’ life as the blueprint for how to live the single life well. What did Jesus have? He had intimacy with the Father, God, meaningful community, and a clear focus on the work God sent him to do. Paul had those same elements. That’s the model — and that’s what we’re working to help single Christians cultivate.

A thriving single life doesn’t look like being usurped by one’s desires, looking to other people for validation, succumbing to the dreams of others for your life, or self-flagellation for not being where you think you should be. It’s not about nonstop hustle or hyper independence either. We serve an all-knowing, all-powerful God. You are right where you are supposed to be, doing exactly what God wants you to be doing.

At SLM, we create spaces through storytelling and community events where singles can grow, belong, and be seen.

How SLM Began

Our founder, Christine, has lived in five states and has been single for the past ten years. Growing up in the church and navigating many of her formative years as a single woman, she quickly noticed the lack of resources available for single people (that weren’t Bible studies or matchmaking services) and the disproportionate way singles were treated. As a single woman, her life choices were constantly in question and often misunderstood. Does a person’s life have value outside of marriage and parenthood? The answer is emphatically yes.

In 2022, Christine had several separate conversations over the course of a few weeks in which she shared her frustration about the mistreatment she’d experienced as a single woman and the lack of support available for singles. Each person listened quietly, and when she finished, they each said the same thing: This sounds like a passion of yours; you should do something about it.

After the third conversation, Christine decided to channel her frustration into action. In the fall of 2022, she began laying the groundwork for Come Tell A Story, and by March of the following year, the first show debuted. It was beautiful, better than she could have imagined.

The impact of Come Tell A Story revealed a deeper need, a community where singles could grow spiritually, connect authentically, and find joy in their current season of life. Out of that realization, Single Life Ministries was born in August of 2024. The ministry exists to empower unmarried Christians to be like Jesus and live whole, Christ-centered lives through storytelling, education, mentorship, and community.

Christine created Come Tell A Story and founded Single Life Ministries to be a voice for single people everywhere, to proclaim to the world that God loves single people too, and to let singles and marrieds alike know that there isn’t anything wrong with being single. In fact, singleness is right.
